Moving from FamilySearch to LifeWell

A free, nonprofit family history site with a shared world tree and billions of historical records. Choose FamilySearch if you want to research ancestors you never met, with free access to historical records and help at a local centre. Choose LifeWell if the tree you want is the living one, kept privately by you, with the memories, health records and appointments of those people beside it.

Last checked 2026-11-07. The full comparison is on LifeWell and FamilySearch.

How to move across

  1. Open LifeWell and sign in. Start with yourself.
  2. Add the people you already have in FamilySearch, one record at a time (people). LifeWell does not import from other services, so start with those closest to you.
  3. Link them to each other, and the family tree draws itself.
  4. Add the memories that matter, with a photo, a date and a place (memories).
  5. Keep FamilySearch for anything LifeWell does not do, such as historical records or DNA.

LifeWell does not keep the audio of a conversation yet: it writes down what you say. It cannot print your tree for a wall, it has no to-do list for today, and it has no iPhone app. It is not medical advice.
