Moving from Findmypast to LifeWell

A UK-centred genealogy subscription with census, parish and newspaper archives. Choose Findmypast if your family history runs through Britain and Ireland and you want the censuses, parish registers and newspapers. Choose LifeWell if you are recording the family you have now, with a free plan and a tree that draws only what you enter.

Last checked 2026-11-07. The full comparison is on LifeWell and Findmypast.

How to move across

  1. Open LifeWell and sign in. Start with yourself.
  2. Add the people you already have in Findmypast, one record at a time (people). LifeWell does not import from other services, so start with those closest to you.
  3. Link them to each other, and the family tree draws itself.
  4. Add the memories that matter, with a photo, a date and a place (memories).
  5. Keep Findmypast for anything LifeWell does not do, such as historical records or DNA.

LifeWell does not keep the audio of a conversation yet: it writes down what you say. It cannot print your tree for a wall, it has no to-do list for today, and it has no iPhone app. It is not medical advice.
