Sharing

Nothing is shared by default.

Sharing is the seventh area, and it holds no record of its own. What it holds is a set of decisions about the other six — who can read what, and until when — and each one can be stopped on its own.

Why it has no switch

The other six areas can be switched off. This one cannot: what you have let other people read has to stay visible to you. /settings?tab=domains lists it as a row with no control — you can share nothing, and then it is simply an empty page.

Deleting the area is a different thing: it ends every link and every connection at once, and keeps your people.

Three kinds of link

A contribution on a read link	A read link that carries a tree can take additions. Tick They can add somebody who is missing, and whoever opens it can propose a person, attached only to someone the link has already shown them

Nothing anybody sends reaches your record by itself. It waits as a reply you read and decide on.

Start a link from /people/share-links, or from the thing itself: every tracker page and the medications page carry Share this, and both tree pages carry Share this tree. Each opens the same dialog with that thing already ticked.

Who a link is for

Anyone with the address. A link is a long unguessable address, and that is genuinely all that protects it. So it expires — after 7 days unless you choose 30 days or Until I revoke it — and you should send it the way you would send a password. A link nobody revokes is a link that still works in three years.

One connected person. Pick someone already connected to you and no address is made at all. They find it under Shared with you on their own sharing page and read it signed in as themselves. Ending the connection ends the link. You can change what it carries, or revoke it, at any time, and they are not told either way.

What a link can carry

Three things, and three is the whole list: a tracker, your medications, or a tree. One link can carry several, and each arrives in its own tab — one tab per thing shared. A link with one thing in it shows no tabs.

A tracker

Only a tracker you actually keep. Its tab is built like the tracker page: the chart over the last 7, 14 or 90 days, the figures beside it, and the readings table — When · Value · Unit · Note — newest first, each reading exactly as you typed it, note included.

Blood pressure arrives as two charts, the top number and the bottom one, with no goal line. A line marking a reading as met would be a verdict about your body shown to somebody else, and LifeWell does not give one.

Medications

The schedule — what is taken now — with each medication's name, strength, dose, times and note, read only.

Whether doses were taken travels only when you tick Also whether doses were taken, for the last 14 days for that one link. Ticked, the reader also sees the share you marked taken, and how many doses were taken, skipped or missed on each day and for each medication. They do not see the time of any mark, anything you wrote about a dose, or anything older than 14 days. Left unticked, the link says it does not carry this.

That percentage counts marks, not tablets. A dose taken and never marked is not in it.

A family or work tree

A tree is a document about other living people, and none of them chose to be in your link. So each tree link asks how much of the tree it carries:

• Their name on the record — the one a clinic or a bank would use — travels only at the widest level or when you tick it. A full name beside a full date of birth is enough to open an account in somebody else's name.
• Dates of birth go whole or not at all. A year on its own beside a full name reads as precise and is not.
• Anything you wrote about a person never travels, at any level, on any link.

The dialog shows the sentence the reader will see before the link is made. You can change the level later, wider or narrower — but narrowing does not take back what has already been read.

What the other person sees

The page names you, says how many things you shared, and says when the link stops working and that you can end it before then. A tree link adds What this link does not carry, which tells somebody in the tree what being in it does not cost them.

They are not signed in, and nothing about them is recorded beyond the fact that the link was opened — your list shows how many times, and when last. The page is not indexed by search engines.

Replies, and Keep this

What comes back through a collect link or a contribution waits under Replies waiting for you. Nothing there is in your record yet.

• Keep this adds the people in it to your record. Nothing lands until you press it.
• Decline leaves your record as it was. The sender is not told either way, because the link never promised them an answer.

A contribution does not ask for a name, so its reply reads A reply with no name on it, with the link it came through.

Ending a link

Action	What it does
Revoke	The address stops working immediately. Whoever holds it sees that the link has ended
Edit	Change its name, what it carries, the level, the expiry and whether they can add to it. A new expiry counts from today
Share again	On an ended link: a new link with the same things and a new address, which you would have to send. A revoked address never comes back
Delete	Removes the record of an ended link. On a link that asked for something, every reply that came back through it goes too, read or not

Revoking does not take back what somebody already read, and nothing can. A page that was open stayed open, and a screenshot is a screenshot.

Copying and sending an address

The address itself says nothing. It is 64 random characters with no name, no tree and nothing about what the link carries written into it, so somebody who sees it in a message learns nothing until they open it. It is built from LifeWell's own web address rather than from the device you copied it on, so there is one address per link rather than a web one and an Android one — copy it in the app or copy it in a browser and you send the same string, and it opens the shared page in a browser anywhere you send it.

LifeWell keeps only a scrambled hash of each address — a form that cannot be turned back into it — and its first eight characters, so you can tell two links apart. The address itself is made on your device and never sent to us, so it can be copied or sent again only on the device that made it.

On that device the row carries Copy link and Share:

Address begins 8f3c… · this device made it and keeps the whole address, so you can copy it or send it again from here. It was never sent to us.

On any other device:

Address begins 5d0e… · this device does not hold the whole address. Only the device that made a link keeps it, and signing out there removes it. Revoke this one and make another to get an address you can send from here.

Revoking or ending a link removes its address from the device too, so a dead address cannot be sent again. A link for one connected person has no address, so there is nothing to copy. Share opens LifeWell's own share window on the web, and the phone's own share sheet in the Android app.

What never leaves

• Anything a link does not name. A link carries a tracker, your medications or a tree. Your journal, memories, photos, notes, calendar and location cannot go behind an address — there is no place in the database to record a share of any of them.
• The rest of your record. There is no way from a shared page to anything else you keep.
• Whether somebody in your tree uses LifeWell. No level offers it.
